Ear/-s ringing? Hissing? Check this out.

When I was a student of interpreting, I had an episode where one ear started ringing and buzzing very loudly. I was also hyper sensitive; loud sounds, even some voices, hurt. I saw several doctors in France and the US and tried many remedies. The symptoms lessened but spread to the other ear.  There's an article on this phenomenon below.
